reintegration of child soldiers
Those child soldiers who are lucky enough to survive their time in the military face many challenges in reintegration, but the outcomes are usually gratifying. Children who are able to get out of the militia require medical attention, counseling, and psychological help. There are many government programs that assist with these processes. The United Nations stated that “Access to these services should be seen as a basic right of all children, in accordance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child." The children used in rebel military groups are socialized to go along with their practices whether or not they believe that they are right. The fact that the children become socialized to go along with the practices becomes an issue when the children try to reintegrate into normal society.
